COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES
We are proud to announce the Minneapolis Spurs Community Outreach program! Join us on the following match days to help us support causes that are near and dear to our hearts. Our work in this area is just beginning, and we are going to do our best to make it easy for everyone to participate whether you want to help us plan the events, show up on match day to help execute, open your wallets to support our charity partners or all of the above. We have some long term goals, and we plan to share those with you as the program develops.
For now, below is a list of dates and the events that are currently in planning phases. More details to come for the October, November and December events so stay tuned to this page, our Facebook Group and Twitter feed for details. If you are interested in volunteering, get to the Nomad on match day and make sure you listen up at half-time for updates and check in with Jeremie Bellenir or Sharon Rossi, your Community Outreach Co-Chairs.
August 27 (Burnley) - Post-Match Speed Volunteering Event
Stick around after the match to hang out with the Spurs brothers and sisters to do something good! We will need your help to bag craft packs for Ronald McDonald House - Upper Midwest (RMH) Our goal is to create 200 craft packs with crayons, small coloring books, granola bar and stickers (Including a MNSpurs.com sticker thanks to our friends from Duluth Spurs. Thanks, Mr. Hughes!). These craft packs will be for patients and their siblings who are staying at RMH locations in Minneapolis and St. Paul.
October 22 (Liverpool) - Animal Shelter Drive and/or Adoption Event
Minneapolis Spurs has a HUGE heart for animals. We are working to plan an event to help support a local animal shelter or rescue, both financially and with needed supplies. If possible, we’ll also hold a post-match adoption event, but more details will need to be worked out before we confirm.
November 19 (Gooners) - Food Drive
For the North London Darby, plan to bring a non-perishable food item in support of a TBD local food shelf or shelter, who will most undoubtedly need need these items to support individuals and families in need throughout the holiday season.
Barside’s day to torment the Spurs faithful! Given the holiday season, plan to bring an unused, unwrapped toy for donation to a TBD charity.
